Features« Review- Siren: Blood Curse (PS3) | Features Home | Typing of the Dead - A Lesson in Awesome » Tough Times For AllIt's a shame that this whole economic crisis had to occur so close to the holidays when so many big-name games are being released. There are several games that have recently come out that I want, and more that are being released soon that I'd like to get my hands on. Instead I'm forced to deal with the fact that I will have to wait until I can find employment again. I know there's got to be some others out there who are going through the same problem or are at least feeling the monetary constraints of the times. Good luck finding a new job.
It’s the same as it has been for me, no real change.
And I’m planning on buying the same amount of games.
But I’ll wait years to buy games that aren’t absolute must haves, so I can get them extra cheap, for instance I’ve been waiting for Splinter Cell Double Agent (for 360) to go down to $15 it’s $18 now but I’m not willing to spend the extra $3.
And I got Fallout 3 collectors edition from collecting Coka Cola codes out of the garbage at bottle returns. I redeemed them for a $75 blockbuster gift card, so I only had to put $5 towards it pretty sweet.
A few years back I got an Xbox the same way.

I have not bought a console game in a long time. Bought a few steam games though. But not many. Though in the last depression the entertainment industry still keeps running because it keeps people happy and able to escape reality. Which is why a lot of people went into construction and building movies sets, etc. In this more major economic crisis we should see the same thing happen but this time with video games. Articles floating around already that sales are expected to remain strong.

I think the whole escape reality thing is true, They just want to forget about their troubles for a few hours.

Hey Dant.
You ought to open up a new topic on this on the Talk Boards and put a link to it in your article here - obviously this makes an excellent subject for discussion. I can go ahead and do that myself, but it would have to be later tonight as I'm having dinner very soon.
FWIW, I have bought far less games that I intend to play mysef this year. Practically nothing big market have bought new at retail - with the exception of an import and an indy title just because I knew they would not be available later on clearanced or used.

I went ahead and added a topic on the Talk Boards with a link to that topic in your article here.
Also, I placed this article in the Discussion/Editorial category. To ALL authors: Don't forget - if you don't place an article in a category, then it won't show up in any category archives!
