What is your favorite Game or gaming item?

| Comments (5)

Having debated this question more, I've finally decided that my copy of Kingdom Hearts 2 is my favorite. I know the game itself isn't rare and can be found essentially everywhere, but it means a great deal to me on a sentimental level. I've never been so infatuated with a game, and I'd definitely never done everything possible within a game until Kingdom Hearts 2.

I have plenty of semi-rare games (Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, Final Fantasy VII, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Rival Schools, etc.) but none of them mean as much to me as Kingdom Hearts 2 does.

What is your prized gaming possession? I think the answer relies upon exactly what kind of gamer you are. Do you base your favoritism on the overall fun of the game or the rarity and value of the game? For me, it's the sheer enjoyment. Rare games are fun to collect, but they rarely excite me as much as a great game does.

Prized gaming possession, eh?

Well as stale as it sounds, I think my prized game possession of lately is my Nintendo DS. Its silver and I think it looks like me. When I first got it, it really amazed me how you can use the tap tap stick and stuff happens. Its the only new thing I have (well the last five years which IS new for me) and it really just amazes me. I play it and am like, wow technology amazes me!

As far as an actual fave game... gosh, not even sure.

Actually, I think my fave game to play might be NBA2K on DreamCast. I know that is not a "niche" title or anything but I have by far played that game more than any other. And I'm not saying the "2K" series, as I didn't like NBA2K1 or later editions as much. 2K1 and later got too "hip hop" with all the rap as background music and streetball courts. And later versions didn't have the cinematic style camera angles that only 2K has. Also 2K1 and later (and most current sports games) play more like simulations - which is nice to watch, but not so fun to play. NBA2K was arcadey and actually fun. I also think it has better graphics than 2K1 and the later ones. The later games made the players shiny to look like sweat - but to me they just look shiny.

My favorite game would have to be Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers for the NES. That game just brings back so many memories as a kid with my first real game system. The game was really fun too, I just loved going through the levels and it just fealt like you were in the cartoon. It was one of the first to really pull off the feeling of being in your favorite tv show in my opinion.

Rescue Rangers is good.

DuckTales was the game (and show) for me though. I had that game when it came out and don't know how many times I played and beat the game. I didn't have Rescue Rangers back then though, so it might have been different had I had the game.

Oh man, I had forgotten all about DuckTales. I used to love that show and that game, I'm going to have to add that to my pickup list. I can't believe I forgot that.
