Hello and welcome to Issue #1 of the Specialty Gamer Newsletter.  (take good care of it, may be a collector's item one day, wink wink)  Since I'm starting out, the list is small w/ pretty much all people I know or met so I'll be a little more intimate in this Newsletter than future ones.

I know its been about a month since I first announced Specialty Gamer publicly at NWCGE 2k7.  I've been steadily working on it since then and thought it may be a good time for an update.   Although I haven't made any changes publicly on the website, I am doing a lot behind the scenes.  I'm basically not ready to show off my progress until things really look/act the way I want them to.  Yes, I'm a very deliberate person with a very specific vision.  And starting my own business makes me cranky/ranty at times.  Please don't forget, if you want to see the latest updates to Specialty Gamer (or me), I post fairly regularly on my Specialty Gamer Prog Log

So what's in the forecast?

Currently, I am working on a system where I can give regular contributors their own account w/ a personal avatar by their contributions and their own profile page.  Tinkering w/ backends and website management systems can get me real frustrated.  I'm very DIY, so I like to get my hands on everything I'm doing.  Can take me a while, but things usually come out how I want them to.

To start, Specialty Gamer will just have content, news, articles.  A forum will probably come next.  The store will take me some time as e-commerce is pretty complicated.  Sometime next year (hopefully by then) I'm going to open sort of an indie marketplace to distribute indie/homebrew games and game related merchandise made by fans and the small companies.

If you were wondering on the NWCGE article and interview w/ Rick Weis, well that is finished complete w/ pictures.  But, I need to work on the format of the website before I put it on there.  You will just have to trust me, that I'm working on things to make them very cool looking.

So yes, even if you don't see changes to the Specialty Gamer home page, I am working on it (or shaking my fist at the computer).  As soon as things are "live", I'll be sure to let you know.

Feel free to email me with any ideas or questions you may have.

Thanks for your support and interest.
