I got an email from a market research company I am a member of telling me about a game console called the Game Wave by ZAPiT.  Its current generation, but I don't think gets the same pub that  Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii or XBOX 360 do.  Like the others, the Game Wave doubles as a DVD player.  The controllers are remotes that are all color coordinated for each player and can have up to six players.  The games (of titles listed) seem to be mostly puzzle, number, word or trivia type games.  The Game Wave console is being marketed as family friendly with some of the games having a Christian focus.

As far as price, its definately priced much lower than the big three at $100 and games priced at $25.  For $100, you get the console, four remotes, and one game - 4 Degrees: Vol. 1, a trivia entertainment game.  I see the company is based in Canada, so maybe that might be why I haven't heard of it so much around here, if it may be more known in Canada?

However, there is a special price available from the market reseach company I am a member of at $50 - where I can get the console and everything included, plus 4 more games and 2 more remotes.  Or I can even choose to get two Game Wave systems for $80.  When I accept a market research campaign, I'll often get promotional materials on the product to look over, and often some brocheres or something to hand out to other people.  And then of course I'm supposed to give my feedback and what I've heard other people say about the product.  Usually the product is free, but for items that have value and cost more - you have to buy it, but at a discount.

Anyways, does anybody have a Game Wave console?  Does anybody think its worth picking up?  I'll admit that I don't follow or know much about the current gen consoles, but this is the first I've heard of a Game Wave.  I don't recall seeing it at a store before.

From what I've heard about them they aren't even worth that much.  Very little information I have gotten about them but the games from what I've heard just aren't worth the time or effort or money.

If you've even heard of Game Wave, then you know more about em than I do!

From what I've gathered they are trying to hit the market of people that want something brand new but don't want to spend the money on one of the big three consoles. With the 360 dropping in price more and more this thing wont even get the limited play it might get. Even as a collector I will pass on the thing.

This strikes me as something unsavvy parents would buy their children who want a 360, PS3, or Wii.

Those kids are going to be very disappointed.  :(

Sorry to be so negative about something I'm very unfamiliar with, though.

I've never heard of it until now but from what I read about it on their site, here are my opinions:

The games don’t look any better than interactive DVD games (which you can play on all DVD players), and its game library makes the Ngage and Tapwave zodiac look like they had huge libraries of quality games.

I’m sure it’ll be a smash hit with Rod and Todd crowd though.  LOL
