Linger In Shadows is basically one big "oh yeah?" to any critic who believes video games can't be art. In a broad sense, it can definitely be considered a video game, albeit one that's main purpose is to be a tech demo. Within the opening sequence, you'll likely feel an overpowering sense of confusion as to what it is you're meant to be doing. Once you realize that it's all basically an experimental sort of deal, things ease up. Throughout Linger In Shadows, you'll find company insignias. When you spot them, you receive a trophy. They're not easy to spot though, as you have to pause the game at the correct moment and adjust the view and focus on it long enough in order for the game to acknowledge you've seen it. Control-wise, Linger In Shadows is pretty basic and surprisingly intuitive. X is to pause the game, triangle is to change between "linger" and "watch" modes, and Select is to snap a picture. You'll probably want to snap a few pictures, too, because a cat standing atop a skyscraper, and a basset hound hovering over what appears to be a filthy, industrial city, make for more than wonderful backgrounds for your PS3 menu. Linger In Shadows encourages you to pause frequently and tinker with surroundings by taking advantage of the motion sensors in the PS3 controller. Many claim that Linger In Shadows is nothing more than an interactive movie clip, but can't that fall under the category of video games? For only three dollars, Linger In Shadows is definitely a worthy purchase. There are 16 trophies to be found, for those of us who enjoy collecting them. But really, it's a game that should be purchased by anyone looking to try out something unique.
