I finally beat it! Really great game, though a few moments are frustrating, such as certain boss battles where you get knocked over and find it next to impossible to get back up.

The game has five endings, and I got what I would consider to be one of the bad ones. Though, it certainly wasn't the worst one. Of course I'm leaving specifics out because I'd hate to spoil it for anyone.

The game wasn't developed by the same people who did the others, but it was incredibly faithful to the tone and plot of the series.

Here's to hoping they make more!

Congrats!  Kind of, as you said you got a bad ending.

When a game has multiple endings and a bad ending, I think most people would get the bad ending first (if they aren't using a guide) just because they don't know the right choices to make, and how to make their characters strong enough thru the game.  When I played Vanguard Bandits the first time thru, I got the bad ending the first time around (mostly because I didn't know what choices to make and my characters' morales were all low because I kept getting them killed my first playthru) and it was pretty bad...

Are you going to play thru the game 4 more times to see the other 4 endings?

I think I'm going to try and get them all. It was tough. The endings are based on three decisions you make in the game, and one of them is saving your mother from torture by shooting her, and I chose not to shoot her. That's not an easy choice to make! Kind of regretting it though.
