When a game takes up as much room as this game does, it had better be good enough to warrant the space. The game is fun in theory, and is great when played on arcade machines, but they kind of screwed the pooch when Namco ported it to PS2. You have to violently hit the drum to get it to actually recognize anything. Even when you get used to this, it's tough not to find yourself growing physically tired after only a few songs. Admittedly, it would probably serve better as a workout device than a rhythm game. The cutesy graphics save it a bit in my book, but unfortunately that doesn't rescue the painful gameplay.
Has anyone here given this game a try? Is my copy just defective?

How big are the drums compared to the Nintendo GC drums?

It's one drum, and bigger than the Konga set. It truly is quite massive. I'd say it's about one foot wide and one foot long.

I just tried one at the Portland retro gaming expo.
You’re right, you have to hit it really hard and another problem was the drum kept moving away from me when I’d hit the edges of the drum.

After 2 songs I was tired out.

I know! It's cool and all, but those two problems are kind of annoying.
