New Badwill in Beaverton

So I went to a new Badwill that had its very first day open today.  My dad said that it was a big deal and was even mentioned on the news on TV.  I went there and as expected, their prices are horrible just like all the new Badwills tend to be when they first open.  Some baseball game for  was $9.99.  It was complete and in longbox, but $9.99 is a ridiculous price for a used video game at a thrift.  A really broke looking pool table (needed felt and cosmetic replacement) was $249.  The store was of course filled all the way up with cattle being herded from place to place. 

One of the Badwill staff was talking to me, saying he saw an old Jackson 5 CD, so he pulled it aside and they would probably mark it up as a collectible. 

They did have a TON of audio CD's, maybe more than I've seen at a single Badwill.  Oh yeah... also all the CD's, books and movies were tagged with the plain "BadwillBooks.com" price tags, so none of them could have a color tag to match the weekly 50% color tag.  I did buy 2 CD's by Magnum, only because they are one of my favorite bands and I don't usually see their stuff used basically at all.

Bah. Badwill. the idea of a chain of thrift stores is sort of unappealing to me. I have three thrift stores in my town, one of which I frequent, but rarely find too much that interests me. Over the years, I've found a boxed and complete NES with a Powerpad, World of Warcraft Collector's Edition with everything but the game, We Love Katamari and Stretch Panic for , an NES game here and there, an , an SNES, and a Genesis. Pretty decent haul for a thrift store in a small town.

I dislike goodwill, the prices are just too bloody high, and the scales are off at the “vulture pits” the ones where you buy things by the pound.

The bins stores have been good for finding deals.  Generally that stuff is all priced like dirt, if its per item (like CD's/games are).  Those places are so dusty that I can't stay in them for too long because my allergies bother me.

I've never had good luck or a good experience at a GoodWill store or any other thrift store for that matter.

I guess my local(non-chain) thrift store must be the exception.  I get amazing deals all the time.  Bought 9 or 10 sealed ps2 games(ratchet & clank, jak/daxter, dark cloud 2, syphon filter, etc) for $60 a few weeks back, ussually pick up ps1 games there for anywhere from $1.25 to $3.25, and have snagged mulitple final fantasy games for under $5 there. 

Overall just about every system i've got has nearly doubled in quantity because of this store except for the ataris and super rare systems.  but all the nintendo and sony systems very much so.
