I've been turning into more of a fan of 2D fighters this year, so I've been trying to play as many of the older ones as I can. I tried Fist of the North Star at an acquaintance's house, and definitely think it's one of the best I've played. If I were going solely on game play, I'd possibly even make the leap to say that it's my favorite one I've played thus far. I need a good design style to enjoy a game, though, and Waku Waku 7 for the Neo Geo more than provides that. I'm considering evolving my feelings about it into an article, as it is a fairly obscure game for a lesser-known system. I was curious if anyone here has had the chance to experience it, though. If so, what did you think?

I like this game. I don't remember much about the fighting system but I do remember the characters were quirky and colorful. One thing I was disapointed about was the lack of characters. I think there's only like 7 or 8.

If you liked Waku Waku 7 check out Sunsoft's other fighters: Galaxy Fight & Astra Superstars. They're both pretty good fighters too.

SNK Playmore released Waku Waku 7 on their neo geo Online Sunsoft Collection for the PS2 which is so far released only in Japan.  I would guess eventually it may come to the US as a budget release like snk Playmore has done for various other neo geo and arcade collections.
