....and I have to say, I'm fairly impressed with some of the games on the system.  I know I'm a little late to the PS3 party, but I'm definitely glad I got one.  I was able to get it on the cheap because of FYE's used item trade-in deal.  Definitely nice.

Anyways, the system as a whole I'm meh about.  I was a huge Xbox fan last generation so I jumped on the 360 bandwagon early.  With that in mind, it is hard for me to get super excited about the PS3 because they are missing a lot of options I grew to really enjoy with the 360.  Achievements (which Sony is really pushing the trophies now), in-game custom soundtracks (Microsoft did a really smart thing patenting that), and the whole Marketplace/Xbox Live ease of use.  Granted, it's hard to find things at times on Marketplace, but Microsoft's online strategy is just a lot more flushed out.  They knew what they wanted to do when they started out.  Sony is just trying to add things on as they go, which they haven't been doing all that successfully.

The games that I have played have been quite fun.  My current favorite and a game series I consider very addictive is Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.  I played through the game once and it truly is a great game.  Mind you it doesn't shatter the genre but it is a really great play through.  A lot of the Sony first party titles are great games that I'm picking up.  I also picked up UT3 on the PS3 because it supports user created custom maps, characters, and weapons.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the system itself.  I just can't wait until it really takes off games wise.  I know we are still a little ways off on that, but it's definitely going to be a good thing.

IMO, You should’ve waited a little longer (unless you got it cheap enough). Because then it would’ve come with the newer controller with rumble and less dropped signals.

Ps.
If you can get the extended warranty on it, get it.
I’ve heard PS3s can have some problems (nothing like a crapbox 360 though)

Well I was able to pick up a brand new 40GB console (they sold the last MGS bundle as I walked in the door), and 4 used games, for $48.52 out of pocket.  They were doing a B3G1 sale on all used merchandise so I got 4 games.  I had like $523 in-store credit and I already have the 360 and no yearning for a Wii so I got the PS3.  I haven't had any problems yet.  Yet being the key word.  I didn't get the extended warranty through them because I figured Sony would have an extended plan like Microsoft did with 360, when I bought mine at launch.  Extended warranty plan inside the box with my 360.  So I just assumed, but I haven't found anything online.

Yeah, I traded in 96 DVDs and 2 Xbox 360 games.  Came out to that after their trade-in deals.  Would have had an extra 10% on that trade-in if someone had told me before hand that their Backstage Pass also gets you an extra 10% trade-in.  I would have gotten an extra $50, but the Backstage Pass costs $25.  Still would have been worth it, but oh well.
