I may be alone in this, but I'm thoroughly excited for this game.  I can't wait to play as the Joker and beat the crap out of Scorpion is going to be thoroughly entertaining.  I really hope they release a demo for this, would be great way for people to test before they buy.  I'm going to get it regardless, because it's just an odd enough combination of characters to be entertaining.  The one thing I don't like is that they confirmed the removal of traditional fatalities like ripping out spines and what not, which is what MK is about in my mind.  Oh well.

Bad decision.

Mortal Kombat without the fatalies in thought just seems like another dated cheeseball game to laugh at.  Live action fighter games are funny.

Well they do still have fatalities, just not the ultra gorey ones. The Joker's is hilarious.

Nevermind....

I honestly don't know anything about fighter games.  Which is why I don't post in this section if you've noticed.

You can thank (blame) the conservative politicians and press for the company feeling pressured to take out the gore.

Everyone knows how kids that grow up playing Mortal Kombat end up becoming 70% more likely to being an axe murderer or addicted to heroine, right???

For once, I think we can't blame this on the politicians. The main reason the extremely graphic fatalities were taken out was because of the use of the licensed DC characters. DC didn't want to see their main characters getting their spines ripped out and decapitated. That and they wanted to maximize their profits and be able for more people being able to get access to it easier by being a Teen title.

I'll just get out of here.   :)

If they took out the gore so parents wouldn't be bothered by the higher rating with the gore put in - well then that's politics.  Honestly, I think the ratings system is absurd and inconsistent anyways.

One of the games I have is called Poker Face Paul's Blackjack and its rated M.  No sex, shooting or blood, just Blackjack and its rated M.  I've seen games I personally consider more offensive with violence, etc., that are rated lower than M.  If Blackjack is considered offensive, then the WHOLE video games rating system I think is meaningless.  I don't pay attention to the ratings because I see them as so inconsistent.  I'm not a parent - so I guess I have no reason to care, but I don't even pay attention to the ratings of a game.

I agree that the ESRB is nothing but a load, most parents don't even pay attention to it. Retailers on the other hand are required to by law.

Here is Joker's Fatality. It's very fitting.

It isn’t just the conservatives, the liberals do it too, just look at Lieberman or Hilary.

My opinion on politicians is; put them all in a sack and drown them. And the world will be a much better place. :D

At least we have something as good as the ESRB (even though it isn't perfect), and not the pathetic OFLC that the Ausies have.

I wouldn’t want to live there period; they’ve got more venomous creepy crawlies than you can shake a stick at. lol

I’m not sure about the EU’s PEGI (Pan European Game Info) it’s kind of a mixed bag because Indigo Prophesy (known as Fahrenheit in Europe) had stuff cut for the north American version, and another game Getaway 2:black Monday (If I remember right) had stuff cut for the European market. :k

I'm sure everyone is well aware of some drug references that could be found in almost any mario game, we've all grown up playing those games, yet we are not some homeless people living on the street, doing drugs we have our lives together more then that. (No offence.)

And in my opinion, games like Zelda or any non gory violent games, are actually much worse than the ones that are gory, I mean c'mon now, the same amount of violence, just more pretty?!?! Either way if your going to be influenced to do this stuff in real life, because it happens in a video game, you my friend, need to be hit by a bus, over and over again.

I do have one question, is it illeagle to buy video games for minors, that come up and ask you at some stores?

I wonder if  any kids were poisoned after playing SMB, finding a red spotted mushroom and then eating it, hoping to double in size. LOL

I’m pretty sure that’s illegal, I’ve never heard of anyone actually getting in trouble for it though.
