First off make sure the ball and rollers are clean, if it’s all full of nacho cheese or something you can’t expect it to work very well. Lol
If that doesn’t work try this:
Inside the mouse There are 2 wheels with holes in them “one each for the Y and X axesisâ€, that are turned by the ball, and on each side of the wheel there’s a little doodad (An emitter diode, and some kind of receiver).
There are a couple of problems that can occur; Dirt (or other debris) could be in the way of the receiver, in that case just clean it out. Or the diode or receiver could be working less efficiently, or they could have moved farther apart (like if the mouse was dropped) in the last two cases do the following:
Find out which axis isn’t working right Y, (Up & Down) or X (left & right) and squeeze the doodads together for that axis so they’re closer to one another, if that didn’t work squeeze them together a bit farther.
I’ve taken a lot of mice apart, and they all have had the same setup, it should be basically the same for most mice.
